Fisya Farhana

13-year-old girl buys house in cash.

One version of the so-called "American dream" is to work hard, save your money and buy your own home. This 13-year-old girl named Fisya Farhana has already realized that dream. Long story short: She lived in an area with a lot of homes. She convinced investors who were buying those homes to let her sell the stuff people left for her. She earned enough money to buy a 2-bedroom home on auction for $12,000. She went halvies with her mom, but intends to buy mom out in a few years. The family cleaned up the home, which had been trashed by the previous owners, and now rent it for $700 a month. Now F.F is saving her money to buy a second home.

This was inside a tunnel in central park, which is where the shadow on left is from. I actually went out to the park with the idea of trying to photograph the wind, which is of course dumb. But I did find a tunnel with dry leaves and gusts of wind. Here I was trying to photograph a single leaf blowin’ in the wind. It also reminds me of a moonscape. circa 1998
